SGS - we enjoy football everyday!
Founded on 11 July 2003
Club's motto
Enjoy playing football, enjoy every day. Don't be afraid of tomorrow, don't be afraid of anything. Advance with Sfintul Gheorghe!
Club's colours
Greenish blue, dark red. These are the colours of the battle flags of the army of Moldova's ruler Stefan the Great (1433 - 1504).
Why "Sfintul Gheorghe"?
"Sfintul Gheorghe" (Saint George) is the collective symbol of a rather broad geographical zone concentrated around one of the oldest Moldovan monasteries, "Sfintul Gheorghe" from Suruceni. The zone covers Chisinau and two districts adjacent to the capital, Straseni and Ialoveni. Given that children attending our club's activities are selected mainly from settlements from this zone, the club's founders chose "Sfintul Gheorghe" as name that unites all the members of our football community.
Profile
Football Club "Sfintul Gheorghe" - Suruceni-based football school (FCSGS) is a non-governmental, non-profit and apolitical sport association with the juridical address in Suruceni, Ialoveni District. The club's activities are based on principles of high performance sport: legality, fraternity and equality and advocates free fair play association, transparency, equality of all members and respect for their interests and rights. SGS was founded under another name as a community non-governmental organization in 2003 and was re-registered under the name "Sfintul Gheorghe" at republican level in 2007.
Financial support
The club's financial support is ensured from services provided in line with the organization's status, from contracts with clients and from sponsorship.
Goal
To educate a new generation of Moldovan footballers in order to secure the SGS's permanent participation in the Champions League. To meet this goal, the SGS pursues the following goals:
- to boost the professionalism of coaches and young football players at the highest training level;
- to protect the rights to creation and freedoms of coaches and young footballers, as well as their social and legal interests;
- to support cooperation relations and mutual understanding with state power bodies and institutions and football organizations inside and outside the country;
- to contribute to the popularization of football at different levels (children, juniors, seniors) and to the promotion of the most up-to-date coaching methods aimed at training high-skilled young footballers;

Origin
The foundation of the Football Club "Sfintul Gheorghe" was laid in 1999, when FC "Victoras" was set up. The team played in the championship of Chisinau County and subsequently in Moldova's Championship B Division. Until 1999, the Suruceni team was named "Tineretea" (Youth) and actively participated in the republican tournament Moldovan youth Cup. Years ago, the goalkeeper of the Tineretea team was a well-known Moldovan light music singer, Ion Suruceanu, who is a remarkable backer and rooter of the SGS.
Backers
Besides the remarkable singer, Ion Suruceanu, a well-known political analyst and politician, Vlad Darie, is also among the SGS' loyal backers and rooters. As Suruceni mayor (2003-2007), Darie significantly contributed to the construction of the club's infrastructure. The team has been always backed by the Suruceni residents, Gheorghe Gorita of the Moldovan Justice Ministry, Gheorghe Suruceanu of the Foreign Ministry, the businessmen Victor Suruceanu and Oleg Munteanu and the head of the SGS Fan-Club, Gheorghe Vicol.
Club's philosophy
Early talent spotting - sustainable education.
The main goal of the education of the SGS footballers resides in developing the players' personality so as to help them attain a playing level characteristic of the Champions League. To this end, the SGS lays the emphasis on the footballers' integrated education, which means sport education, intellectual education and moral education.
The peculiarity of the SGS football school resides in the integration of children from urban settlements, who are more independent and bold in training groups jointly with children from rural areas, who are more hard-working and more disciplined.
The SGS school has the following goals in the education and training of footballers:
- to grow up good people;
- to educate genuine citizens and patriots of Moldova;
- to raise their sense of responsibility for school studies;
- to accustom them with a healthy way of life;
- to make them feel happy for having chosen football;
- TO EDUCATE GOOD FOOTBALLERS!
